Although during the past two years, the famous Dubrovnik troubadour, chansonnier, singer-songwriter, singer, guitarist (student of the legendary Andreas Segovia) and composer, Ibrica Jusić, has released two brilliant albums/CDs, firstly the brilliant "Hommage a Leonard Cohen" dedicated to one of the most important world-class singer-songwriters of contemporary music of the 20th century, Leonard Cohen, and others, with Jusić's arrangements of traditional Bosnian-Herzegovinian sevdalinka (the Jusić family, which in addition to Ibrica gave music another gifted son, his older brother, the composer Đel, one of the oldest families in Dubrovnik, is originally from Herzegovina, and Jusić's birth name is Ibrahim), our suggestion of the week regarding music this time is not one of the two aforementioned sound carriers, but a compilation album/CD published seven years ago, titled "Retrospective",which contains compositions from his oeuvre from his debut album from January 1974, simply titled »Ibrica Jusić« to the album from 1985, recorded in Paris, entitled »La Vie«, which he sang entirely in French.
The album contains a very tasty selection from the aforementioned period of Jusić's work, which is characterized by hit numbers from the album »Ibrica Jusić«, »Skaline Od Sudbine« and »Čovjek Bez Kafića«, with several compositions from the early phase of his career, marked by songs from various festival of the so-called "hit" music, for example with the excellent number "I still don't know some important things". There is also the indispensable »Midnight«, with which he started his already cult concerts under the clear sky, at midnight, on the Dubrovnik steps. A wonderful sound carrier, whether you like Ibrica Jusić or not.
