"Swamp Trash hasn't tied itself to a single genre. The guys have left the field wide open to explore and expand on music that has influenced them throughout their lives. Robert describes their sound as "neo-retro-rock." reminiscent of the music of the 60's and 70's, but also integrating the members' musical influences drawn from rock, blues, folk, funk, country, and gospel. Despite the musical depth the guys bring to the band, they seem to adhere to a "less-is-more" approach. Their 10-song debut album, Swamp Trash USA, features minimalist arrangements, such as the blues number "Tired of the Color Blue," a haunting blend of vocals and cornet (supplied by guest musician Zachary Smith, front man for the Dixie Power Trio), supported but not overwhelmed by guitar, bass, and drums. "Monster" recalls early ZZ Top, replete with gravely vocals and blues-rock-guitar solos. The funk-inspired "Honey I've Got You" channels soul legend Issac Hayes in its vocals but with driving harmonica and guitar solos to create a funk-blues medley that defies classification. It is music for people who appreciate multiple genres and want something familiar but fresh at the same time. The album which features former member Ken Phillips for nine tracks, showcases the guys' individual talents and experiences, and the confidence based on wisdom they've accumulated over the decades and the trust they have for each other as friends."
