Lakeshore Commission and Dave Lee featuring Bluey - In 2 The Light (2022)

Lakeshore Commission is not one of Dave Lee's better-known aliases; to date, he's only used it for one single, 2019's tribute to Randy Mueller and Skyy, 'Together (Right Now)'. For this belated sequel, the Z Records founder has enlisted the assistance of Icognito main man Bluey. He provides gorgeous, multi-tracked, Dayton-style vocals over a warming, jazz-funk flecked post-disco groove, beautiful brass arrangements and lovely orchestration on the EP-leading 'Mind Trip Mix'. The pair's love of jazz-funk (and Dayton in particular) comes through even more loudly and clearly on the starry, rubbery and floor-friendly 'Slap Bass Invasion Dub', while the 'Mind Dimension Dub' sits somewhere between the two mixes whilst also adding a touch of disco grit to proceedings. Excellent stuff as always from the man formerly known as Joey Negro.
