In the spring of 2019, Phat Dat had made a remarkable entrance on the scene with their first EP named Culture Shock. The Lyon band had amazed with their mixed and finely arranged psychedelic pop which earned them immediate fame. Three years have passed and they are expected at the turn with their first long-format named Flowers.
Like their first EP, Phat Dat multiplies the field of possibilities. The members of Derya Yildirim & Grup Şimşek and Satellite Jockey offer us an absolutely smooth and traveling psychedelic odyssey, as evidenced by harmonious titles such as the introductory title track but also the tailor-made arrangements of “Kind Words”, “ Snow Dropped” or even “The Bells”.
Phat Dat takes us to cosmic funk lands as well as Ethio-jazz ascents through a detour to reggae while assuming an extraordinary cohesion. Between the enchanting flute melodies and swaying rhythms from elsewhere passing through these sumptuous guitars, there is only one step that only the quartet manages to cross with "Holidays" or even with "Striking Second First". and “Autotune The World”.
We hum each tune, let ourselves be transported by each rhythm and each impulse which bear witness to the incredible alchemy of the group with “Hypnotized” and “Situations” as a glorious closing. Flowers summons the quintessence of the 1970s with this exotic and luminous hint that never fails.
