This solo debut album is a selection of improvisations on standards and original compositions. The repertoire ranges from Body and Soul to Over the Rainbow, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans and originals.
The role and presence of producer Giulio Cesare Ricci in this selection of recordings was as important as a second musician in a duet. This is true not only for the incredible rendering of the sound of the instrument and the place, but also for the creative environment he creates during these days of recording and his emotional connection to each melody.
An interpretation with great pathos, realism and dynamics.
An interesting musical journey in a Jazz key, ranging from the 'standards' of the Great American Song Book to original compositions, passing through the 'Song Books' of other genres and cultures. A journey that takes us through the sounds of different cultures very dear to the Anglo-Italian pianist. The recent trip to Brazil, Naples of which he is in love, Great Britain -his country of birth- are just some of the places Mazzariello intends to pay homage. Each piece reveals a precise identity accompanied by the refinement and elegance that characterise the pianist. "Playing piano solo is always an important moment of growth, it puts you in front of important responsibilities. I have learnt to conceive these moments as a form of Freedom and not necessarily a moment of solitude."
