Four-time World Champion piper Kyle Warren has recently returned to Scotland after spending five years in Australia, teaching bagpipes at the prestigious Scotch College in Melbourne and leading the Grade 2 Australian Champions, Hawthorn Pipe Band, as Pipe Major. Before emigrating, Kyle was a member of the Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band, winning seventeen of twenty titles in four years (2011 2014), which included a history-making double 'Grand Slam'. Kyle was also a full-time member of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, touring worldwide, joining the famous 'BagRock' band after graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Scottish Music Piping, from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Highlights in Kyle's piping career include releasing his debut album 'Wanted' and first book of music - 'Tunez'; recording pipes on the Disney Pixar Oscar winning movie 'Brave'; reaching the final of the BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of The Year; Pipe Major of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland; winning a Danny Kyle award with 'TNT' at Celtic Connections; winning the Bagad Championship in Lorient with Bagad Cap Caval and teaching bagpipes at the highly successful Dollar Academy, prior to emigrating to Australia.
Since returning to Scotland, Kyle is back playing with Field Marshall Montgomery, back 'Bag-Rocking' with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, has released his second collection of bagpipe music titled 'Eat Sleep Pipe Repeat' and of course this his new album 'Relentless' on Greentrax.
'Relentless' was produced by Stevie Lawrence, who plays various instruments and composed and played guitar on a solo track: 'A Leap in The Dark'. A host of other musicians, including Jack Smedley (of Rura, on fiddle); Adam Brown (guitar), Craig Muirhead (piano), James Lindsay (bass), Scott MacK (percussion), Leon Thorne (saxophone), David Riddell (trumpet), Scott Wood (keyboards), and Glen Bardwell (didgeridoo). Kyle plays bagpipes and composed most of the tunes on the album. In addition, Allan Tall narrates 'The Pipers In The Stand' and Mhairi Marwick adds speech on the opening track; 'Press Play'. This exciting and mostly up-tempo album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Scott Wood at Oak Ridge Studios, Glasgow.
