On their fifth album, the Munich-based band teaches Bavarian traditions new tones, far away from the fustiness of the homeland and folklore, and sometimes mixes Mexican bandas in with their Zwiefachen, funeral marches and tavern classics. G.RAG UND DIE LANDLERGSCHWISTER do not let themselves be irritated by the rampant "new folk music" boom and TV shows with homeland references, but have been consistently doing their own thing for years. "Neue Stadt" is after the predecessors "Honky Tonkin`", "The Woaz", "Landlergschwister" and "Schwung" the latest work of the Munich-based band, who since their album "The Woaz" also have MICHA ACHER (THE NOTWIST) in their 16-member ensemble.
A madly cheeky repertoire of country dances, Zwiefachen and funeral marches, which for years in the Munich Hofbräuhaus, at the Wies'n, in beer gardens and pubs have caused enthusiasm even among non-folklorists. The title of the album is based on the PALAIS SCHAUMBURG song "Wir bauen uns eine Stadt" (We're building a city), which, by the way, is also on the album.
Among the eleven songs are five original compositions and six cover songs. Besides the already mentioned PALAIS SCHAUMBURG song, there is also a HANK WILLIAMS song ("Mansion On The Hill"), as well as "You Wanted A Hit" by LCD SOUNDSYSTEM and others.
