This album is a collection of stories. Some are historic, others are based on folklore and the whole under the title ‘The Toledo Sessions’ relates to my own story which you can read below:
For much of my childhood, we drove around as a family in an inherited, blue Triumph Toledo. It had a wooden dashboard, leather seats and a LOT of rust! It was special because in it I gained my love for singing and stories. Dad and I sang songs from James Taylor, Ralph McTell and The Spinners whilst on our way to collect Mum from nursing shifts. Hughie Jones’s song ‘Ellan Vannin’ was a favourite and it captures this fantastic combination of singing and storytelling - I have recorded it as the first track. I hope you enjoy listening to The Toledo Sessions as much as I have enjoyed recording them!
