Rayanne Dupuis, soprrano Antoine Palloc piano Melodies by charles Ives - The side show The Side Show, by Rayanne Dupuis. The idea of making this musical “snapshot” of Charles Ives came to me quite naturally. I already knew a good part of Ives' work, having been raised at Alma mater, Yale: there is always a very present historical figure. I was also attracted by the astonishing originality of this composer who wrote without any real hope of being performed. Composition was his passion, but he did it as an “amateur”. Yet hers emerges as the first original voice in the history of American music. I am also deeply touched by his humor, his simplicity of expression as well as by the very intimate and personal side of Ives's songs - songs often composed on texts written by himself or by his wife and on subjects taken from his own life. Even in his most serious pieces, we feel that the wink is never far away. Rayanne Dupuis From her small hometown in the far north of Ontario in Canada, nothing seemed to predestine soprano Rayanne Dupuis for a musical career. However, from the age of six was born his passion for music, a source of refuge, expression and sharing. First she started playing the piano, and very quickly followed parallel studies in singing. She continued her musical studies and perfected her skills in singing up to the level of the doctorate, which she obtained from SUNY in New York, having passed through the universities of Toronto and Yale. Antoine Palloc is from Nice where he studied music with Catherine Collard. In 1988 he obtained a first prize for piano and chamber music. Very quickly, he specialized in the art of vocal accompaniment, which he studied with Dalton Baldwin and Martin Katz at Westminster Choir College, Princeton University, and at the University of Michigan (USA).
