Red Garland Trio - Misty Red (1991)

This was probably Red's last recording....having come out of retirement, and it is a fine set of standards and show tunes. The accompanyment is first rate also with bassist Jamil Nasser, who had an eight year stint with Ahmad Jamal, and the fine brushwork of Frank Gant, who also has recorded numerous times with Ahmad Jamal.
Red Garland had lost nothing in his pianistic approach, still displaying a very sophisticated and, on this set, intimate style.
Anyone who likes good jazz piano trio, and in particular Red Garland or these very familiar musical selections, will really enjoy this one!
