The Glass Labyrinth is music made with a certain midnight mood in mind, like getting home after a party, or getting ready for a party, or even not going to a party at all, but listening to distant music that comes through your window. Music not from the party itself, where the noise is, but from the aftermath, from a moment of lucidness drowned in a haze of memories.
"What moved me was the idea of doing electronic music that didn't sound like electronic music, or MPB (música popular brasileira) that didn't sound like MPB." Recorded by São Paulo artist Veridiana Sanchez during the region's COVID quarantine, The Glass Labyrinth is airy but baroque. Deeply influenced by Eastern Bloc cinema and Brazilian poetry, its lightness and formality conjures a haunted maze full of specters and illusions.
From Sanchez: "And to all listeners: art may be great and all, but never forget the concrete, historically determined, material conditions of production."
