Wah Together - Let’s Wah Together (2022)

The year 2022 is placed under the sign of the supergroup. The latest example is Wah Together where we find a totally enticing line-up: former LCD Soundsystem member Phil Mossman on bass, Vito Riccoforte from The Rapture on drums, Steve Schiltz from Longwave on guitar and Jaiko Suzuki of Electroputas on vocals. In short, the creme de la creme in short. Together, they have combined their respective universes to offer us a first album called Let's Wah Together.

The New York supergroup immediately surprises with these nine tracks rich in influences of all kinds. Wah Together takes pleasure in mixing post-punk, shoegaze and kosmische musik with a touch of dance-punk for originality, notably on "Tempered Dub" as an introduction before the guitars and bass lead the rhythm on "I' m A Swimmer" and on "You Got The Blues" with a 90's look. This musical journey promises in any case.

Jaiko Suzuki's interpretation remains shimmering no matter what. Alternating English and Japanese like on the yé-yé looks of "Sayonara" and other krautrock of "Tobu", she captivates with her incredibly controlled vibrato allowing her to establish her originality just like her friends. The strength of Wah Together lies in the versatility especially with "Teen Vito" and "Who We Are" before giving the final assault with the life-saving "Out! Out! Out! ". The supergroup pays an excellent tribute to the influences they have bathed since to offer us a deafening melting pot.
