Horse is a trio consisting of guitarists Angela McAlinden and George Hutchison and the lead singer for whom the band is named. Produced by Steve Jolley, God's Home Movie is the group's second effort. Possessing a powerful, husky voice, Horse instantly reminds the listener of Alison Moyet vocally. The music is punchy, adult pop built around simple guitar lines and augmented by keyboards. The lyrics, written by McAlinden and Hutchison work best when they keep things simple and let Horse guide the melodies. "Celebrate" leads off with a tick-tock guitar rhythm and gives way to a joyous, raucous chorus. "Shake This Mountain" is a surging, mid-tempo number propelled by Horse's powerful voice and a sturdy backbeat and Hammond organ and brass gives "Letter To Anne-Marie" a Motown kick. God's Home Movie delivers intelligent, melodic adult pop.
