The first Roma play of fate, or gipsy musical, Somnakaj, was born as a result of the serious preparatory work of several well-known Hungarian artists and creators.
The artists and performers from different cultural backgrounds and scenes reflect the diversity of Roma culture. The cast includes well-known national and international singers and musicians.
The songs have never been sung in such a guise anywhere before. The programme included authentic Roma folk songs in their traditional form, modern arrangements of these songs, Marko Markovic's Roma composition reflecting Balkan influences, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos' Roma jazz song, improvisations, arrangements of Romano Drom and Ternipe songs, rap and slam inserts.
Edina Szirtes Mókus and Antal Kovács orchestrated a reinterpretation of everything the audience thought they knew about Gypsy music.
