Last year, Fresh got people talking with their EP called The Summer I Got Good On Guitar. Following this, the London power-pop quartet was able to find a place for itself among the talents of tomorrow in this field and they were inevitably expected with the arrival of their long-format called Raise Hell.
Kathryn Woods and Myles McCabe (also members of ME REX) as well as their acolytes roll up their sleeves by making their respective neuroses speak on these eleven new titles. Doing the splits between power-pop, emo and pop-punk, Fresh distils a good dose of youthful ardor and casualness contrasting with the introspective texts of Kathryn Woods, notably on “Our Love” which opens the ball but also on “Morgan & Joanne as well as on “Going To Bed”.
Reminiscent of their compatriots Martha but less rebellious, Fresh amazes for this good-natured atmosphere that hovers throughout. Whether on the hard-hitting sequence of "Sleepover", "Fuck Up" and "Deer In The Highlights", the London quartet unleashes passions while healing the wounds of the past. After a few fireworks doing good to the ears ("We All Know (Blondie)", "I Know I'm Just A Phase To You"), the lull points the tip of its nose with the conclusion named "Why Do I". making Raise Hell a rather successful exercise in this area on the part of the four Londoners.
