After being part of the Tonky Blues Band and later Los Reyes del K.O. along with Marcos Coll, living a long season in Berlin and California, Adrián Costa returns with a new formation, The Criers, with Luca Frasca (piano, Hammond organ and vocals), Coke Santos (drums and vocals), Pablo Pérez (guitar and vocals), David Salvador (bass and vocals) and of course Adrián on vocals and guitar.
Nine songs, half an hour of R&B pure and simple, understanding R&B as music with Afro-American roots, since we face rock in Be Cool, soul sifted by Latin rhythms I'm Yours, or more classic soul like Here eat my baby or You got love. We get to the Jamaican roots, since he closes the album with a Rocksteady, Do the Kid.
He presents in all the songs the characteristic sound of the Hammond, which is what creates the atmosphere, accompanied by a wind section in all the songs and choirs. The guitar remains in the same plane, it does not pretend to be the protagonist, always in the background with many funky rhythms and the occasional solo but with the clear objective of sounding like part of a band.
The Criers sounds like a band that plays R&B, good musicians, well selected sound at all times, well adjusted levels so that no particular instrument stands out, except when necessary and great variety within a style. All of this accompanied by the voice of Adrián, who is chameleonically capable of adapting his voice to the style of soul, rock, calypso or whatever comes along. Fresh and entertaining.
