He was born in Centelles (Barcelona) in 1944, and studied music at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Musica of Barcelona, where he attended the course of piano with S. Puche and R. Coll, and of organ with M. Torrent. He completed these courses in 1972 with the Premi d'Honor de Grau Superior for organ. He finished his academic studies with the degree of Professor Superior of organ, and later was awarded the Premi Extraordinary de Grau Superior of organ by the same Conservatory.
He attended courses to perfect his training in Holland, with Piet Kee and Anton Heiller, and in France with X. Darasse.
From 1974 to 1983 he lived in Basle (Switzerland), where he studied with E. Muller, and obtained the diploma of Virtuosity of the Organ, awarded unanimously by the jury of the Conservatory of Music of that city. Besides ancient Iberian music, his repertory includes works by classical, romantic and contemporary composers who perform in most European countries, including Turkey.
He received scholarships from the Fundacion Calouste Gulbenkian of Lisbon to carry out studies of musicology and interpretation of ancient Iberian music with Professor M.S. Kastner. In order to make this music better known, in 1980 he created the International Course of the Interpretation of Iberian Music in Torredembarra and Montblanc (Tarragona), in which he teaches every summer. In addition, he has been invited to give master classes of musical interpretation of ancient Iberian music in various conservatories throughout Europe, such as Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, and so on.
He has made two recordings of this music (Torredembarra, 1980; Montblanc, 1983), and has broadcast on the radio in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain. He is Professor of Organ and Bass Continuo in the Conservatori Superior de Musica del Liceu in Barcelona, and is the titled organist of St Peter of Reus, where he lives.
