Somewhere between the haunting melodies, the delicate intricate guitar work & the intensely fragile lyrics; Rob Wheeler has discovered a refreshing new way of doing something timeless... Telling stories with his songs. The self-produced debut album "Little Ghost..." is in short a pop record for grown ups. A collection of folk-inspired warm ballads & glossy Americana-pop songs, laced with a typically British cynical view on love, lust, life, death, hope, regret, Faith & despair. Having received serious critical-acclaim from amongst others Neil McCormick (The Daily Telegraph) & Paul Sexton (BBC Radio 2) the album was followed by singles "Love Somebody"; a live-lounge acoustic version of the Number 1 hit by Baby D "Let Me Be Your Fantasy" & an emotionally charged rendition of "Changes" originally written & recorded by rock legends Black Sabbath. The 2021 album "Ten Embers" was recorded with some of the most respected musicians in the world; including guitarist Robbie McIntosh (John Mayer/Paul McCartney) drummer Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow/Willie Nelson) and mastered by U2 and The 1975 collaborator Pete Maher. 2021 has become a landmark year for Rob; who has released an unprecedented 27 songs; the final 5 being his Christmas EP - "MidWinter Songs"; which hit number 1 on the UK singer songwriter album chart and number 5 in the USA. He received 6 nominations in the ARC Radio Listener Awards including best album, winning the prestigious Songwriter Of The Year award & he was made featured artist & acoustic track of the week on BBC Across The West - TWICE !! 2022 began with Rob signing a brand new exclusive songwriting deal with UK publishing leaders Bucks Music Group Ltd. As he prepares to record his third studio album, he has personally overseen a deluxe edition of both Little Ghost & Ten Embers. The anthology style expanded editions feature extensive bonus material such as acoustic demos from the Blackbird Studio archives. Little Ghost Archive entered the USA singer-songwriter album chart at #10 and the UK chart at #7; making it his second consecutive album to make the SSAC Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic. Where Rob really leaves his mark on you is at his live performances. Hearing this man’s raw, powerful, yet smokily smooth voice over his tender guitar & piano playing, you feel that you've just experienced the musical equivalent of sipping a perfectly aged whisky, sat next to an open fire, as the cruel, cold modern world outside, for a short time at least - disappears.
