With ANIMA, Swiss violinist Jonas Erni presents six solo fantasies for violin that form a hidden connection to Bach’s or Ysaÿe’s solo works and link this violinistic heritage with the personal reflections of this versatile musician. As violinist&composer, Jonas Erni conceived the fantasies during 2020 and 2021 and constantly developed them in concert. In the limbo between quasi-improvised gesture and an emotionally sustaining structure, the six works approach different musical and biographical levels. The Intermezzi parlando, spoken in German by Swiss radio speaker Michael Schwendimann, are intended as an original mediatory approach and enable a sensitive listening accompaniment for the listeners.
