The Transcendentalist is the highly anticipated follow-up to Serbian-American pianist Ivan Ilic’s award winning album 22 Chopin Studies by Leopold Godowsky and his first for Heresy Records. A hypnotically beautiful recording of meditative music that traces the links between the piano works of Alexander Scriabin and the American avant-garde, particularly John Cage and Morton Feldman. Underlying the music on the album is the philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalists whose ideas in!uenced these composers.
