Denmark’s soul- and gospel diva Marie Carmen Koppel is known for her beautiful and significant voice, and has a big audience in Denmark.
In the 90’s she lived in New York where she performed as the first white woman in churches in Brooklyn and Harlem, and here she really found her musical foundation.
In 2011 she released Brooklyn Jazz Sessions, recorded in New York with world class jazz musicians; Kenny Werner, Johnathan Blake, Scott Colley and Benjamin Koppel. It was her brother, the succesful Danish saxophone player Benjamin Koppel, that introduced her to singing jazz. Since then she has performed with both jazz, R’n’B, soul and gospel.
