The year 2022 is placed under the sign of the return of Kamikaze Nurse. The quartet from Vancouver stood out a lot in 2019 with their first album called Bucky Fleur which has never been reviewed in our columns but which will have turned a lot in our turntables. This year, they are making a comeback with the long-awaited "Stimuloso".
Still imbued with shoegaze, noise-pop and indie rock influences, Kamikaze Nurse will hit hard once again with these ten new tracks. Stimuloso immediately impresses with this youthful and supernatural energy that emerges on tracks such as the introduction called “Boom Josie” and “P & O”.
Following this, the intensity increases with much more explosive tracks making the splits between My Bloody Valentine and The Breeders. This can be heard on the much more punk looks such as the ferocious and crazy "Aileen" and "Dead Ringers" where the female interpretation alternates singing and hysterical cries for our greatest happiness. Kamikaze Nurse continues to be unleashed with also "Never Better", "Come From Woods" and the mind-blowing "Work + Days" with these sharp riffs and this boosted rhythm section which will come to calm down somewhat for a final too both playful and hard-hitting named "ubobo".
Stimuloso is rather aptly named as it showcases all of Kamikaze Nurse's supernatural energy. Dividing between shoegaze and punk accents without ever distorting their indie rock origins, the quartet from Vancouver is back stronger than ever for our greatest pleasure. An outing not to be missed.
