Originally released in 1983, when Gary Moore was at the height of his "metal days," Rockin' Every Night: Live did a fine job of capturing all the on-stage guitar heroics of this acclaimed Irish guitarist. But when the album was reissued in 2003 via Virgin, the original eight-track album was expanded with three additional tracks -- "Back on the Streets," the title track, and "Parisienne Walkways." It's a wonder why the latter was not included on the original, since it was Moore's biggest hit (and was still fresh in the minds of Euro audiences -- it was a massive hit there just a few years before), while it's also a bit of a head-scratcher why the two other tracks are included, since they were both already featured earlier in the disc. Most Moore fans will admit that this era wasn't exactly the guitarist's strongest, as most of the tracks -- including the aforementioned title track and "Nuclear Attack" (complete with cheesy air-raid siren and helicopter sound effects) -- are straight-ahead metal. In other words, this was before Moore began to incorporate Irish themes into his solo work (1987's Wild Frontier and 1989's After the War) or rediscovered the blues (1990's Still Got the Blues and 1992's After Hours). And as yet another major blow to Rockin' Every Night: Live, a mere year after its initial release another live Moore set was issued, We Want Moore!, which proved to be by far the better of the two.
