Review by Charity Stafford
When originally released in 1978, Cherry Red Records claimed that HYBRID KIDS was part of the then-current trend of new wave compilations. In fact, all the fancifully named bands performing in a wide variety of post-punk and new wave styles were actually former Mott the Hoople keyboardist Morgan Fisher having a giggle. It's Fisher's sardonic talents, however, that make tracks like an industrial mutation of Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" or a woozy dub take on Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" work so well. This reissue adds the rare follow-up Christmas album, never before on CD.
