With this music Haydn gave tribute to Marianne von Genziger, who held such a special place in his life. This recording is dedicated to all the women who held music salons, encouraged artists with their intelligence, their passion, their love of the art, and who often made possible the creation of extraordinary works. The pianist Lucas Blondeel and the soprano Liesbeth Devos are two of the most promising talents of the new generation of Belgian musicians. They come together for this recording of works characterized by freedom in composition in an emotional registry of intensity rarely equaled. The famous variations in F minor take a previously unknown, almost crepuscular tone when one learns that they were composed shortly after the passing of Frau von Genziger. Similarly, the cantata Ariana a Naxos and the magnificent sonata in E flat major take on an intensity of emotion inspired by Marianne. Lucas and Liesbeth will interpret the program at Flagey, on May 3rd 2010, on the occasion of the release of the CD.
