Antonio Barbagallo - Clouds in a Hurry (2022) Hi-Res

The recording project of the Sicilian singer, guitarist, composer and author is dedicated to New York, to its climatic changeability which also becomes humoral and which results in a plasticity of contortions capable of welcoming a heterogeneous world that has its gaze stretched out to the sky and to the great aspirations that it underlies. An "accelerated" paradigm of our thoughts which are clouds of illusions, hopes and dreams. The approximately 25 years spent in the Big Apple from Barbagallo have certainly impressed in his sound the variegated colors of the cultural transversality of this extraordinary metropolis. Translated into musical notes, all this corresponds to a great versatility that manifests itself both in the repertoire and in its improvisational language always aimed at the search for a common thread that amalgamates the different stylistic components of the world of jazz in ease. In "Clouds in a Hurry" we go from the classic standard of Dizzy Gillespie to the music of Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk and Chick Corea, passing through the tradition of Antonio Carlos Jobim's "bossa nova" to the later one of Milton Nascimento, all stuffed from the "colorful" original pieces and from the contribution of great improvisers such as Leo Genovese (piano), Sean Conley (double bass), Francisco Mela (drums), Heri Paz (clarinet) and Stacy Dillard (soprano / tenor sax).
