The four members of the Attitudes (David Foster, Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar, Paul Stallworth, and Jim Keltner) all played on George Harrison's 1975 release, Extra Texture (Read All About It). No doubt the idea for this "super band" of top-notch L.A. session musicians was born during that recording, and since Harrison was just establishing his Dark Horse label, it seemed like a perfect fit. These musicians are all top notch and very good at what they do...play their instruments and arrange music. However, writing their own material and producing their own songs is not their forte. Although the playing is superb (Jim Keltner is one of the finest drummers on the planet), the songs are not. These are typical mid-'70s jazz/lounge/easy listening songs that all melt into one long jam. The songs do not stand out, and there really is not a memorable tune to be had. The lyrics are rather lightweight, and the overall effect is that of a sleeping pill. Harrison himself does not play on the record (although he does receive a special thank you from the band using his alias, Ohnothimagen), but his fans and collectors will want this to fill in their Dark Horse collection. Besides hearing an young David Foster, there is little of interest to anyone else. © Aaron Badgley
