Darkher - The Buried Storm (2022)

The dark yet beguiling images that DARKHER aka Jayn Maiven acoustically paints with her weightless vocals, guitars and strings conjure up cinematically dazzling scenes in which beauty lies in the darkness or at the same time it is perhaps the other way around. With her second album "The Buried Storm" the musician, composer, lyricist and producer succeeds in improving her beloved alchemical musical formula, which she was able to firmly establish on DARKHER's debut album "Realms" from 2016. DARKHER formed in 2012 as the solo project of Northern England singer and guitarist Jayn Maiven. The sombre-melancholic, but also massive sound on her self-titled debut EP "Darkher" (2013), in combination with the distinctive voice of the shy Pre-Raphaelite beauty, caused a stir, especially in the doom scene, and led to the fact that the following EP The Kingdom Field (2014) was released via Prophecy Productions. Even without a finished album under their belt, DARKHER have been invited to prestigious festivals such as Roadburn in Tilburg, The Netherlands and Prophecy Fest in Balve Cave. In 2016 the debut album "Realms" was released, which was praised by fans and critics alike. The music press compared DARKHER's music to a variety of highly individual acts such as CHELSEA WOLFE, ESBEN AND THE WITCH, SÓLSTAFIR, LOREENA MCKENNITT and PORTISHEAD. With "The Buried Storm" DARKHER give the darkness a seductive form that lurks hidden from the viewer's eyes at the edge of consciousness, patiently biding its time and then directly grasping the heart.
