Son Of Dave - Call Me King (2022)

That blues thump-bump and wiggle is back in his stride on the10th album of classic Son Of Dave harmonica beatbox-bluesman vibes. His infectious sound has featured in Breaking Bad, Preacher and many more soundtracks. Simply the most progressive unique and funky blues based artist there is, this is the pure raw stuff that won his millions of fans.

When asked about the making of this album, Son Of Dave says: "A week won't go by without the primal urge to make another Son Of Dave jam. It starts with a rhythm to suit the mood, then harmonica riffs and words get shouted. Whether it's frisky, angry, or mournful, the thing comes out begging for attention. Some tunes stay raw, just harmonica and thumping. Others want drums, bass, piano, guitar, trumpet... and I oblige by working out the parts. I work hard for your entertainment basically, from beginning to final product. The awards and trophies are due any day now.".

Call Me King follows 2021 album similarly titled Call Me A Cab, written on piano. The album was a traditional New Orleans steeped singer songwriter album, circa 1974, and was hailed as "A solid gold record" by R&R Magazine UK.

The return to more recognizable Son Of Dave harmonica and blues driven sounds for Call Me King was "necessary not only for the fans, but to keep my sanity. These songs never stop coming to me even if I'm working on a more fancy record. I won't ever tire of that late night bar-room feeling. And the harmonica is always in the pocket. Piano not so portable."
