Noon Garden is an exotic psych-pop odyssey from one of the founding members of the Flamingods. Drawing on worldly sounds from Francis Bebey and Dur Dur Band to Shintaro Sakamoto, it rips up the sonic rulebook and conjures up a faraway land where you can relax to grooves that meander through a wide spectrum of African disco, funk, exotica and psychedelia. Noon Garden has been supported by the likes of Clash and The Line Of Best Fit. A native of Britain with Nigerian and Jamaican roots, Noon Garden spent his childhood in Bahrain, surrounded by people who, like himself, lived on an island far from home. Seeing the world from a young age and the experience of 10 years of touring the world with Flamingods have gone into his new project and have had a huge influence on shaping the tropical adventure of Noon Garden. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Charles wrote all the parts on the single himself, produced it himself and played it himself. Noon Garden says of the album, "This debut was an experiment to get to know myself better. Writing music is a therapeutic process for me, and it took me about eight years to finish this album on my own, to try to understand what I wanted to say lyrically and explore sonically. The album's lyrics have changed a lot over time, but they take a curious look at the human experience; in my case, growing up and absorbing many cultures from a young age in the Middle East, the UK, and briefly in Singapore. It's a reflection of what has passed and what is yet to come, of my relationships with others over the years and how that inevitably shapes how you see things around you. All of this is told through the lens of psychedelia, which has always given me a sense of possibility."
