Francisco Javier Vargas Pardo is a Spanish blues and rock guitarist, founder and leader of the Vargas Blues Band. Javier was born in Madrid shortly after his parents, immigrants in Argentina, returned from Buenos Aires. Nine years later, once again back in that country, they reside in the cities of Mendoza, San Luis, Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata. Passing through Avenida de Mayo in Buenos Aires, he meets Tanguito, composer of “La Balsa” and pioneer of National Rock. It is in Argentina where he awakens his passion for music and where Javier begins to play the guitar. There he experienced the National Rock movement that was conceived in Buenos Aires and spread thanks to magazines such as Pelo and Pin-up.
He is a kid when he discovers La Cueva – a club where musicians would meet to jam-, the Pin-up Rock festivals – where groups like Los Gatos played – and BARock - the emblematic Progressive Rock festival of Argentina and Uruguay , which was held at the Buenos Aires aerodrome.
Until he was old enough to go out at night, he had to settle for the press and television to follow the adventures of Argentine Rock: thanks to programs like Sótano Beat, he was able to see and listen to Almendra, Manal, Pappo's Blues, Moris, Litto Nebbia. , Vox Dei, Sui Géneris, Pescado Rabioso, Invisible, Color Humano and other musicians who circulated around Buenos Aires. He also met La Pesada del Rock & Roll, a prestigious association of Rock musicians created by Billy Bond.
In Mar del Plata he locked himself up to play in garages with other musicians. Among them he made great friends, like Jacki Patruno and Carlos Caloso. He learned with the excellent guitarists Jorge Cámara and Flaco Roy, and listening to groups like the Trio Galleta, with Carlos Iturbide, and San Francisco, with Gorosito, in the coastal clubs.
All these experiences lived in Argentina would mark the subsequent development of Javier Vargas's career. Without a doubt, this imprint is what has made the idea of forming a Rock group in Spanish and paying, at the same time, a tribute to the music that prompted him to play the guitar and that still continues today, always remained in his mind. being an important source of inspiration. Thus Espíritu Celeste was born.
