The TAB Collective comes around informally in its musical style. As casual as the title of the album Back In Town, so is it's musical start. You get out of the cab with the first song and you find yourself in a sound world of warm grooves between soul and jazz. The TAB Collective does not even want to reinvent a genre, but plays the songs emphatically atmospheric and accessible. The music tells stories in different colors.
And yet the musicians enter quite different terrains: Sometimes soothing with string arrangements, as in Where do we go from here, or with reminiscences of Stevie Wonder in Civility. Or At Midnight, characterized by stride piano echoes and drive, with a counter-pool in the ballad In your way.
TAB Collective is looking for the way of manifold influences, here a mastermind was deliberately omitted. The result is a musical freshness, which is contagious and in its directness a blessing. With pleasure we return musically to the city - Back in town!
