India Blue is a vocalist and producer with a dynamic, unorthodox style of singing; often using her voice to mimic percussive instruments and the resonance of a choir. India’s musical journey began in Glasgow where she met Josef Akin; her keys player, and formed a collective of Glasgow based musicians. Here, India began composing and writing her own music, experimenting with her vocals, percussion, and trumpet. India’s admiration for the deep, rich voices of Donny Hathaway and Sarah Vaughn is channelled through her experimentation with her vocals; where she brings husky timbres and a resonant tone.
Being stimulated by the beauty in the universe and recognising her creative potential, India decided to leave work as a paralegal and pursue music full time. India has since been exploring the many sides of her musical capabilities; working on multiple projects, including her own which has been inspired by the sights and sounds of nature, latin music and choral sounds. India’s exploration of eclecticism is captured through her blending a capella and harmonic singing with percussive textures. In this, India builds moody soundscapes reflecting the beginning of her musical journey which has its roots in her recognising the power of creation.
