"Images of Winter" is the first solo album by acclaimed score composer Jesper Hansen.
The album can best be described as a Neo-classical work full of lyrical melodies and Nordic melancholy.
Winter can be so many different things; from cold and harsh to beautiful and full of peace. On "Images of Winter" The composer has focused on melancholy and beauty, and the 11 tracks guide the listener through these moods on a journey where each new track offers something new, without losing the sense of familiarity.
"I have always enjoyed the idea that all of us who compose, have some kind of 'default' type of music we write if we strip away everything we've learned and go back to when we first began composing. The piano music of Yanni and David Lanz was immensely influential for me, and when the album title 'Images of Winter' popped into my head, I instantly knew that I wanted to write an album that was, not only melodic, but also full of longing and that Nordic melancholy that composers like Olafur Arnalds convey so well!"
