Some of the works of Fanny Hensel (née Mendelssohn) could only be published under her brother's name, as it was extremely difficult for female composers in the 19th century to even be printed or even to find wide public recognition. This album with soprano Chen Reiss includes a selection of her songs in new arrangements for orchestra, the dramatic scene for soprano and orchestra Hero and Leander, and two rarely heard works by her brother Felix: the little-known concert aria Infelice! and the first version of the Hebrides Overture.
