Amy Denio - Chapel Sessions (2022)

Scott Schaffer of Right Brain Records commissioned me to create this new solo vocal album. It’s been almost 20 years since I produced my voice & loops album Chickenhawks Ought Not (2003), released with great sorrow on the eve of the US invasion of Iraq.

During Seattle’s COVID-19 quarantine in 2020 I presented Spring Forth livestreams on the internet from my living room. I improvised vocals and effects every Friday at noon.

For this new recording, I used the same set up: sing into a Shure SM58 mic going through my EFX and amplified by my small guitar amp.

I wanted to record this simple setup in a nice acoustic space, so I improvised in one of my favorite venues for singing and wreaking havoc, the beautiful Chapel Performance Space in Seattle.
