CRASH B. - Dracula - The Other Story (2022)

This is another story of the "Dracula", his real name Vlad III says the Impaler, Prince of Wallachia (lived in 15th century Romania). A complex character evolving in a perverse and unbalanced world and who oscillates between piety and cruelty, chivalrous spirit and betrayal, between political finesse and brutality.
Vlad the Impaler is part of the long line of the unloved ones of history: voivode for historians, bloodthirsty tyrant for those who have manipulated his image according to the political interests of the time, and finally romantic vampire for writers and filmmakers.
Dracula, the other name that crossed the centuries and basically replaced the original name Vlad, is a founding myth of the human consciousness: the afterlife and immortality.
The first part of the album imagines Vlad's birth and his childhood marred by the life at the Sultan's court as "free hostage", the return to Wallachia and the ascension to the throne.
In the second part, his cruelty against traitors, dishonest people and foreign enemies like the Ottomans grows.
As king of his castle standing on rocky precipices, he starts to have morbid, phantasmagorical dreams. The massacre of his boyars on an Easter Sunday (Bloody Easter) confirms him as a tyrant.
The battle and victory against the Ottomans, leaving 20,000 Turks brutally impaled on the battlefield to scare the Sultan, increased his reputation, his cruelty and his transformation. You wonder if he is not more of a demon with supernatural forces - a dark warrior of the night.
The third and ending part of this album aims to make us believe in his transformation and embrace the legend of the Vampire.
This is my contemporary story and interpretation of Vlad the Impaler, internationally known as DRACULA.
