Steven Kamperman - City Maps (2022)

City Maps is the new album by composer/clarinetist Steven Kamperman. His compositions together form a portrait of the modern city. Under the motto “It's not a concert, it's a trip!” Kamperman takes the audience on a musical and visual journey through an imaginary city.

On this album he collaborates with trumpeter Bart Maris, bassist Dion Nijland and guitarist Jorrit Westerhof. The compositions form a city map with a great contrast of influences: from Ornette Coleman to swing jazz, from rock to minimal, from contemporary composed to modern dance grooves. They call it 'Urban chamber jazz'.
