He probably couldn’t have imagined it any better: Growing up in Canada, Fabian Anderhub already played at the renowned „Montreal Festi-Blues “ and “Jazz-Festival “. In his childhood, the family emigrated from Switzerland to Canada. The guitarist and singer inherited both worlds; city life in Quebec and quiet inspiration in Switzerland. The opposites told him about life: Being a well-regarded and respected player (having played more than 200 concerts in Canada alone) and having been poor: His family struggling to survive as farmers in Switzerland, ultimately forced to try their luck elsewhere.
If it hadn’t been for the emigration to Canada, chances are good that Fabian Anderhub might have never discovered his passion for blues: Stevie Ray Vaughan was what it was about for him, as well as jazz. His background allows for his passion to melt into something new; an uncanny mixture of roots music and zeitgeist blues.
Meanwhile, Anderhub is back to Europe: His concerts in Canada would have served as a life-long base to play the clubs, but the roots were calling, and Anderhub listened: He went back to Switzerland after he trained as a farmer, and decided it was time to record his passion.
In 2010, his debut album „Left Line“ is released, showing off pure bluesrock – dusty, traditional licks played in a modern fashion; up-to-date tone and sound as opposed to nostalgia. In the summer if the same year, he played the record out in Canada and Switzerland.
Anderhub is too much a player to rest: With his recent 2011 record „It’s a Blues Thing“, he explores his veins even further. As the title suggests, it’s his tribute to the raw and intense roots of his blues attitude, ranging mostly from midtempo songs to heartfelt ballads. Besides his own songs, Anderhub interprets blues standards in his own remarkable style. All oft hem were recorded live with his band.
As if all of this were nothing at all, Anderhub is already back in the studio recording his third album. This time, he’s focusing on rock in its original bone-crushing manner: 2 guitars, bass and drums. Ten tracks, no excuses. Anderhubs pure approach begs to see him live on stage, where he plays his heart out.
