Endowed with a great sense of freedom and an innate stage temperament, Théo Degardin feels the need to satisfy a devouring appetite for the pianistic repertoire: from Rameau’s most refined suite to Rachmaninov’s most brilliant transcriptions (not to mention learning contemporary works), every piece is a pretext for pleasure and sharing of music. He began playing the piano at the age of ten with Eric Degardin and Jean François Mast. He then continued his studies with Prisca Benoît and Mladen Colic, whom he met at the International Summer Academies in Biarritz and Nice.
In 2014, pianist Sonia Rubinsky decided to take him as a student: as a result Théo Degardin wins the Brest competition the same year, and performs in recital at the Mont d’Or Festival. He is also accepted as a student at the prestigious Conservatoire of Paris, CNSMDP in 2016 in the class of Michel Dalberto and Claire Marie Leguay.
In 2016, he made his orchestral debut playing Beethoven’s Chorale Fantasy, and in 2018, with the same partners – Stanislas Kuchinsky and the Chatillon Conservatory Orchestra – he performs Beethoven’s third Concerto. In the same year, he recorded Stravinsky’s Petrouchka at the Paris Conservatory, before benefiting from the advice of Abdel Rahman El Bacha at the International Academy of Music in Flaine.
In 2019, he continues his studies for a Master’s Degree in the class of Frank Braley and Haruko Ueda.
In view of an exceptional background and exceptional talents, Théo Degardin is supported by several Foundations: from 2018, by the Goëland Foundation, and since 2019, by the Kriegelstein Fund and the Meyer Foundation.
