Scott Ramminger is a songwriter, saxophonist and singer, who occasionally accompanies himself on guitar. He moved to Nashville in 2017, where he performs twice a week with his band Scott Ramminger & The Temporary Condition. On Tuesdays at Twin Kegs II, 327 Hermitage Ave, Nashville and on Thursdays at Papa Turney's BBQ at Nashville Shores Marina on Percy Priest Lake. He also regularly performs as a saxophonist with others. Ramminger regularly returns to his previous home of Washington DC to play band gigs with his own band and as a sideman with other bands. Since his debut album 'Crawstickers' from 2011, Ramminger has released five albums, namely 'I Really Love Your Smile' (2013), 'Do What Your Heart Says To' (2017), 'Alive And Ornery' (2017) and ' Rise Up' (2019). Except for a few covers (except for the live album 'Alive And Ornery), all songs on these five albums were written by Scott Ramminger. 'Crawstickers' Scott's debut album from 2011 won a Washington Area Music Association WAMMIE Award as best debut CD. Scott's most successful album to date was 'Do What Your Heart Says To', reaching No. 1 on the Root Music Report R&B Album Charts. In his career, Scott Ramminger has won one Gold and two Silver Awards in the blues/jazz category of the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest. Scott Ramminger's sixth album, Live At 3rd & Lindsley Nashville, will be released on February 4, 2022. It is a live album that was recorded in the late summer of 2021 during two concerts at the popular club 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville.
His most successful album to date comes the almost five minute gem 'Someone New To Disappoint'. Ger Hofman's beautifully flowing bass line provides a wonderful groove and James Pennebaker once again shows that he is a finely-strung guitarist who can deliver soulful guitar work. Scott continues to entertain the audience with his beautiful and pleasant voice and of course with his wonderful saxophone sounds. Scott tells us that he absolutely loves 'Daisy' in the melodic love song 'Daisy'. He reinforces his vocal declaration of love with a beautiful sax solo. The longest track on 'Live At 3rd & Lindsley Nashville' is the soulful blues ballad 'Lemonade Blues'. For the instrumental virtuosos Scott Ramminger and James Pennemaker, such a long slow blues is an excellent opportunity to showcase their instrumental class and both gentlemen do so here in an extensive and fantastic way. James seasons the entire song with his wonderfully fine guitar riffles and he puts a lot of feeling in his soulful string solo. Scott does the same, but on his saxophone. The rhythm section, with drummer Maxwell Schauf and bassist Ger Hofman, prove once again in 'Walk A Little Straighter' that they can create a perfect groove. James Pennemaker again plays great on his six-string and moments later Scott takes over on the saxophone with great feeling and power. 'Walk A Little Straighter' is also the last track in which we hear guitarist James Pennebaker. The next four songs are from another Scott Ramminger concert at The 3rd Lindsley in Nashville and Joe V. McMahan was the guitarist. 'I Love Your Smile' has that attractive rumba-tinged rhythm again, which we heard earlier in 'Living Too Fast'. Joe V. McMahan immediately makes a positive impression with a very nice solo on his six string. Moments later Scott takes matters into his own hands with a strong sax solo. The next story is called 'More Than One Flavor' and it takes place in the ice cream shop. Here too, drummer Maxwell Schauf and bassist Ger Hofman provide a very attractive groove. joe v.
The band takes it up a notch for the swinging 'It's Hard To Be Me', in which Scott Manninger and Joe McMahan once again shine with excellent solo work on the saxophone and guitar. You can safely stay on the dance floor because with 'This Town's Seen The Last Of Me' we get pure rock'n'roll. It is a song with a lot of atmosphere and ambiance and with such a title it is very suitable to say goodbye to the audience. Until then the live music, because with 'Come Valentine's Day' we get another studio track as a bonus. It's a ballad to which Scott invited very different musicians. In this track we get Spooner Oldham on keys, David Hood on bass, Will McFarlane on guitar and Doug Belote on drums. Live At 3rd & Lindsley Nashvilleis for me a pleasant introduction to Scott Ramminger. Scott has a pleasant and good voice and knows how to deliver his songs very well. In addition, he is an excellent songwriter and saxophonist. It therefore does not surprise me that Scott Ramminger & The Temporary Condition is a much sought-after band. 'Live At 3rd & Lindsley Nashville' is a very pleasant and fine album. (7.5/10) ~Walter Vanheuckelom
