Karsten Nelson - In the Ground (2014)

Born in Germany to a military family and raised on a gravel road in Kentucky, Karsten Nelson has flown under the radar as a singer/songwriter for some time. For years he has made himself known in the Louisville, Ky area as an in demand freelance guitarist/bassist and private music instructor. Playing everywhere from concert halls, bars, and even a cruise ship, Karsten cut his teeth as a performer accompanying many other singer/songwriters and bands. Growing tired of slugging it out in bars and playing covers for tips, he yearned to reach people at a higher level. He wanted to challenge, he wanted to speak. Writing began for his debut record "In The Ground" which was released in March of 2014.

"In The Ground" was recorded at Kevin Ratterman's (My Morning Jacket, Jim James) La La Land studio. Influences of older artists: Springsteen, Petty, U2, as well as more contemporary, Dawes, The Lone Bellow, and the Avett Brothers can be heard throughout the record. Karsten writes songs that are meant to both challenge and inspire people to embrace life's possibility and struggles. He is looking forward to touring and reaching people with his music.
