One year after his first LP, “Ostriconi,” french producer Yeahman (aka Jean Dasso) gives carte blanche to a fine selection of producers from various musical horizons, re-imagining the album with 9 new remixes.
Musicians from around the world have answered the call and have given the album many new faces, with a new fresh look onto the original work. International headliners stand alongside local renowned electronic producers as an illustration of Jean’s will to break frontiers through music. These journeys lead us into rhythmed bass music, oneiric ambient waves, and eastern dancefloors.
--------------------------------
The first track and single of the album is a re-interpretation by Yeahman himself, of one of his most personal songs from “Ostriconi.” In “GLI-F4-II” he leads us into a dub-techno atmosphere where delays and snares resonate in contrast to last year’s album. Galician producer Baiuca brings us to another hidden percussive dancefloor with his version of the album’s standout, “Baixi Baixi.”
La Dame and Goldie B break the original rhythms from “Sueno Contigo” and “Carinito” in two powerful tracks, while Toulouse based producer Kaval – an up-and-coming artist in bass music – shows his talents on “Soupe Feu.” Joaquin Cornejo, from Venezuela, keeps the original guitar loops from “Lecce 74” to deepen the track, while subtly increasing the tempo.
H2O and Ditti represent their Parisian collective Curuba, offering cloudy and dreamy versions of “Deelahli” and “Sakoneta.”
Finally, Arabian Panther (founder of Toulouse Gouffre Club) reinterprets “Ouloullou” in a more disco-oriented version – using the original voice and lyrics of Omar Zidia – culminating in a 70’s Tuareg dancefloor heater.
