American indie rock musician and singer-songwriter, born 25th November 1964 in Ellensburg, Washington. Guest vocalist on the Soulsavers` 2007 album "It's Not How Far You Fall, It's The Way You Land" and 2009's "Broken".

In addition to the constant Mike Johnson, Lanegan's scum took part in the creation of the album: Ben Shepherd from Soundgarden and Duff McKagan (formerly Guns N 'Roses, now Velvet Revolver), as well as his (Lanegan's) ex-wife Wendy Ray Fowler. In terms of sound, Field Songs departs significantly from the musician's past works. While maintaining the old acoustic setting, the album incorporates Middle Eastern influences ("No Easy Action") and experimental musical compositions ("Miracle", "Blues for D"), evoking the work of Tom Waits. Lanegan's gravelly and gin-soaked voice on "Don't Forget Me" and "Fix" is offset by the subtle and delicate performance of "Kimiko's Dream House" and "Pill Hill Serenade", which are arguably the saddest songs Mark has ever written.
