"BAILE" brings back the sound of Miami Bass and Freestyle which were fundamental to the development of modern day Baile Funk. During the 90s, Brazilian favelas and working class neighborhoods had weekly parties with DJ sound systems playing Miami Bass and Freestyle records which were integral to the early development of Brazilian hip hop and Baile Funk.
FBC is one of Brazil’s biggest rappers from the city of Belo Horizonte, who currently lives in the favela Cabana do Pai Tomas. He built his name in the battle rap scene and found early success joining forces with Djonga, Clara Lima, Coyote Beatz and Hot e Oreia for their group, DV Tribo.
VHOOR has been building his name internationally with a string of solo releases mixing Baile Funk with Afro-Latin percussion, global electronic music, hip hop, house and r&b/soul. He’s been featured in The Guardian, Complex, AfroPUNK and his music consistently plays on BBC6 Radio, BBC1Xtra, KCRW, KEXP, Soulection Radio and WorldwideFM. In Brazil, VHOOR has produced for some of brightest talents, including FBC, Leall, SD9, Kyan, Fleezus and others.
“Baile” is nostalgic in sound while highlighting social-economic issues in Brazil for residents of the favelas and working class neighborhoods. The album’s surface level love story of a protagonist who meets a girl at a party in a favela, also showcases deeper themes of police harassment, corruption, poverty, and violence that residents of these neighborhoods face on a daily basis.

The MC and the producer now return with an instrumental version of their project, a rendering with an even more raw, rough and festive atmosphere.
