Latvian Radio Choir, Sigvards Klava - Rachmaninov: Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, Op. 31 (2010) [Hi-Res]

This new recording features Rachmaninov’s 1910 setting of the Eastern Orthodox Church’s Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom

This a capella choral music was judged by contemporary church officials as “…absolutely wonderful, even too beautiful… it is not church music”; still today, this work is regarded as one of the great cornerstones of 20th-century sacred music.

One of the foremost choruses in the world, the Latvian Radio Choir under Sigvards Klava delivers a sonically highly authentic performance; this may become the new reference recording of this work.
