Bruno Vansina, Benjamin Sauzereau, Cyrille Obermüller, Falk - 12 12 Indoor (2022)

In 2018, Bruno Vansina's band went on a musical adventure for a whole year. Every month the musicians took their instruments to a special place: a skating rink, a motorway, a velodrome or a funfair. The challenge: making music and responding to the music that a place naturally makes. The band played at those places unannounced and without an audience. The people who were there belonged to the places or just happened to pass by. The camera registered the music, the sounds, the events. Each month produced a short film, the sum of which was a musical visual story in 12 chapters.

Now the musicians come to Alsemberg with their images and impressions. Can you translate a location into music? The images undoubtedly influence the music, but how? You will find out in this multimedia presentation.

Bruno Vansina is best known for his work in the horn section of Flat Earth Society (FES), but has also played with Ewout Pierreux Quintet, Rebirth Collective and Scoreman, among others. In recent years he has organized a number of special projects, such as the 16-piece Vansina Orchestra, MAITÉ, HET GIISJE EN DE VOGEL (a shadow play with music by Martin Denny) and Orchestra Exotica. In addition, he brought a tight tire on board. Benjamin Sauzereau, active in Les Chroniques de l'Inutile and Hendrik Lasures Warm Bad, among others, is one of the most original guitarists of the moment. The strong young bassist Cyrille Obermüller (HAST) has also become a fixture in the Belgian jazz landscape in no time. Percussionist Falk Schrauwen (Echoes of Zoo), another up-and-coming talent and a world music expert, provides extra rhythm and color, and with the ubiquitous Teun Verbruggen as the rhythmic engine of the quintet, this collaboration can only lead to a vibrant creative opulence.
