Óbudai Danubia Zenekar - Aranyszárnyú angyal (A legszebb karácsonyi énekek Ott Rezső átdolgozásában) (2022)

The Danubia Band has created a special album for the holidays. The most famous Christmas melodies, church songs, Hungarian folk songs, English and German traditional songs come to life on the album entitled The Golden Winged Angel, which is published by Fonó. As we have become accustomed to from the orchestra and conductor Máté Hámori, it makes the old and the modern modern: on the record we can hear songs known and loved from our childhood in an adaptation by Ottső Ottső. The band will use the proceeds from the album for a project called Common Voice, which will feature music with hard-working children in the Maltese Symphony Program.

“The highlight of Christmas Eve for me has been the moment since I was a child when we stood around the tree and sang the classic bouquet together: Shepherds, shepherds; The angel from heaven; Little Jesus was born - and what came to mind. As a child, singing together meant that it was only moments that separated me from the long-awaited gift, and as this grew older, this unmissable few minutes gave me the experience of peace, togetherness, and togetherness. And as an adult, I felt that these songs, although perhaps only once a year, were such an important part of our identity, and it is no exaggeration to write our heritage that we had to record them in a worthy robe for our grandchildren. We are experimenting with this with the fantastic reworkings of Ott Rezső: to preserve and revive this wonderful tradition, the magic of singing together. ” (Máté Hámori)

The album features songs that are familiar to everyone, connecting different ages, social groups, people living in the countryside or cities. We hear them, we listen to them in church, in the plaza, in school - they are with us. There, Rezső first made unique adaptations of Christmas songs for the Danubia Orchestra in 2015, and since then this collection has been enriched with one or two songs each year, so the music material on the CD was finally compiled, supplemented with five completely new songs. The recording was made in July 2021 in the Great Hall of the Academy of Music with the participation of the National Choir.
