Kush K - Your Humming (2021)

Little known on our land, Kush K. still deserves its attention. The psychedelic pop group from Zurich had captivated its little fanbase with a first album by the name of Lotophagi released a year and a half earlier before stepping up with its spellbinding successor by the name of Your Necessary.

It will only take seven compositions for Kush K. to renew his sound in order to better captivate us as it should. The Zurich quintet swaps applied songwriting for something more subtle without ever losing an ounce of inspiration and elegance. This results in sophisticated and sought-after pop pieces such as the introduction called "Ghosts In Familiar Faces" and the blues accents of "Nothing To Prove" reminiscent of the sensitivity of a Mazzy Star or even the compositions full of contrast that are "Magpie And "Euphoria" perfectly showcasing the warm feminine interpretation worthy of a campfire. Caught between ethereal and cavernous atmospheres on the sublime title track or even on "Soften", Kush K. gives free rein to his imagination and will take us far afield until the tasty and enveloping conclusion entitled "Zitrone". Seven tracks is too little to transport, but whatever, Your Necessary is a sublime musical trip where you will let go when you want.
