On the anniversary of his 125th birthday, Gramola devotes a special edition to the merits of the great Austrian conductor, music scholar, founder of the Salzburg Festival and composer Bernhard Paumgartner. His many years as the artistic director of the Camerata Academica Salzburg he founded and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra found expression in an unparalleled number of recordings for the time. The fact that Paumgartner was mainly interested in Mozart's works and that it was a major concern of his to perform less well-known works, still has an influence today. Besides familiar pieces, this magnificent compilation also contains several works that even today have unjustly much to seldom found their way into the programmes of the great concert halls, such as the captivating and youthful Symphony No. 28 in C major KV 200, the 'Colloredo' Serenade in D major KV 203, different minuets and marches as well as almost forgotten concert arias. Participants include Hilde Zadek, Leopold Simoneau, Herman Schey, Hubert Barwahser and Maria von Ilosvay.
